Import into Canvas

Open an empty course. A new course shell or a sandbox works best. Importing into a course that already has content adds to it; nothing already there is removed.
Go to Settings, then Import Course Content. Settings is in the course menu on the left. Import Course Content is on the right of the Settings page.
For Content Type, choose Canvas Course Export Package. Then choose the .imscc file you downloaded.
Choose All content, then Import. Leave the date options alone: the course has no dates yet. The import shows as Completed in the list at the bottom of the page when it's done.
Set your dates. Everything arrives with no due dates, so you can fit it to your term. The Assignments page can edit every date at once.
Publish when you're ready. Everything arrives unpublished, so students see nothing until you publish. On the Modules page, Publish All does the whole course at once, or publish one session at a time.

A Start Here module: how the course works, how it's graded, and the final project, if you included it.
A module for each session, with an overview and a page for each experiment that links to the full experiment in the book. Practice assignments, discussions and knowledge checks come due every session or every few, depending on what you chose.
Rubrics on every practice assignment, discussion and the final project, and weighted assignment groups you can change in Canvas.
Knowledge checks import as Classic Quizzes. If your school uses New Quizzes, Canvas may convert them on import, depending on your school's settings.
